First and foremost I am a freelance wine writer. I also work as a wine consultant for restaurants, as a wine educator and translator of wine-related texts. I am a judge at international wine competitions (IWC, IWSC, TCVA). I have harvested and helped to make wine in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. I am also the contributing editor for Austria, Alsace and English Wines for US Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
I am an accredited member of the Circle of Wine Writers and the Association of Wine Educators. I hold the WSET Diploma and in September 2014 I was admitted to the Institute of Masters of Wine.
Some favourite things: sipping Pinot Noir or Spätburgunder, Riesling, Nebbiolo, Nerello Mascalese, Cabernet Franc, Carricante, Sangiovese, Blaufränkisch or Lemberger, Sankt Laurent, Syrah and of course also traditional method sparkling wines and Champagne. Entertaining and cooking, exploring wine regions in my old Volvo Estate, listening to Bach, Pink Martini, Händel, Simon & Garfunkel, tending my fragrant garden, reading and swimming. I also have a weakness for blood oranges, cherries, ripe tomatoes and anything containing orange peel.
